The Essex Town School District has three schools on two campuses. Essex Elementary School, located on Bixby Hill Road, is a primary program ranging from preschool to second grade. The services at Essex Elementary also include after school YMCA programs. The second campus is on Founders Road. Founders Memorial School serves grades 3-5 and includes an after school YMCA program. Essex Parks and Recreation, in partnership with the Essex Schools, offers afterschool programs for Essex Elementary and Founders Memorial School students as well. Essex Middle School serves students in grades 6-8 and provides many after school offerings in music, art, intramural and interscholastic sports. Essex Town is a wonderful place to live and a great place to learn. The District serves approximately 1,250 preschool through grade eight students. Parents, staff members, students and the entire community work together to provide quality programs and help every child become successful. CVU provides its students with an extensive and comprehensive curriculum, offering a variety of programs and more than 150 courses. The school is committed to a philosophy of heterogeneous grouping, allowing students to choose an academic path best suited to their learning goals. There are no curricular tracks. The program elected by each student should reflect his/her individual interests, abilities, and needs. Students are encouraged to enroll in the most demanding program possible. This allows the choice of various paths, including college, job training, etc., after the successful completion of high school. School Counselors provide each student with assistance in self-understanding and in the selection of courses, both yearly and on a long-range basis. Students in the ninth grade are enrolled in a Core Program, earning a total of five credits, in English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Health/Physical Education. All tenth grade students are enrolled in English 10 and Making of the Modern World (Social Studies), and are expected to enroll in a program that includes courses earning a total of at least six credits. Students in grades eleven and twelve enroll in a minimum of courses totaling five credits. Within the CVU curriculum, students are offered the opportunity to travel and learn about other cultures. For example, Spanish and AP Biology students may travel to Costa Rica. Travel seminars have brought students to China, Italy, Dominican Republic, England, Ireland and Wales.

We are a Pre K-8 school system. Our total student enrollment is 658. The average class size is 17 in Pre K-4. The average class size is 19 in 5-8. We have a combination of multi-age/single grade classrooms. Instruction to students is offered in all academic areas, as well as in physical education, both vocal and instrumental music, art, enrichment and computer. We employ 15 professional specialists to provide services to students with special needs. We have one of the most modern Learning/Media Centers in the State of Vermont. We have 2 computer labs, mobile laptop labs, as well as computers in the classrooms, enabling our students to access the latest in technology. School hours for students are 8:05 to 2:55. Transportation is provided for our students and we plan our bus routes so that no student rides longer than 45 minutes to or from our school. Our graduates can attend the high school of their choice. We have students attending BFA St. Albans, BFA Fairfax, Essex, Colchester, South Burlington and Winooski. Students may enroll in Kindergarten if they are 5 on or before August 31st. Our staff, with an average tenure of 20 years is extremely dedicated to our students. Historical data validates our belief that Georgia students are successful.

Harwood Union High School is a mid-sized secondary school located in South Duxbury, Vermont. As a member of the Washington West Supervisory Union, the school serves the towns of Duxbury, Fayston, Moretown, Waitsfield, Warren, and Waterbury. Manchester Elementary Middle School (MEMS) is a K-8 school located in the beautiful Northshire Valley, in Manchester, Vermont. MEMS is committed to engaging all students in academic work. Serving approximately 600 children in preschool through grade 6, the Swanton School is the second largest PK 鈥 6 elementary school in Vermont. We are located near the shores of beautiful Lake Champlain. Our community includes a historical railroad museum, a wildlife refuge, and a museum of Native American History. Our cultural diversity includes families of Abenaki, Hispanic, African-American, and Chinese origin. Approximately 37% of our student population qualify for free or reduced price hot lunches. Some 13% of our students have a disability requiring an individualized education program. We employ a staff of 128 individuals, including office staff, support staff, classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and custodians.
