HOUSTON ISD

The Houston Independent School District (HISD) is the largest public school system in Texas and the seventh largest in the United States. Its schools are dedicated to giving every student the best possible education through an intensive core curriculum and specialized, challenging instructional and career programs. HISD is working hard to become Houstonians鈥� K-12 school system of choice, constantly improving and refining instruction and management to make them as effective, productive, and economical as possible. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves in rigorous academic courses designed to prepare them for college and meaningful careers. Recent data shows the number of HISD students earning college credit on Advanced Placement exams and posting top scores on the SAT college entrance exam has never been higher. In addition, the district's graduation rate is at an all-time high, and the dropout rate is at an all-time low.
DALLAS ISD

The Dallas Independent School District is proud of its award-winning schools, its outstanding teachers and staff, hard-working students and committed parents and volunteers. We are the 14th largest school district in the nation with a diverse population of more than 157,000 students. Serving these students are more than 20,000 employees, making the Dallas ISD one of the largest employers in the city. Dallas ISD boasts several U.S. Blue Ribbon Schools, 30 Exemplary and 67 Recognized schools as determined by the Texas Education Agency and is steadily increasing its graduation rate. As a matter of fact, the number of students graduating from Dallas ISD is at its highest since the mid-1980s. Our schools are also receiving renovations made possible by a $1.35 billion bond program approved by voters that is also building 14 new schools. CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD

Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District is the third largest public school district in the state of Texas and has earned the Recognized status for the fourth consecutive school year according to the Texas Education Agency (TEA). CFISD has 11 high schools, 17 middle schools, 52 elementary schools, and 4 special campuses. FORT WORTH ISD

GARLAND ISD

GISD is located in the thriving northeast corner of Dallas County and serves the suburban cities of Garland, Rowlett and Sachse. Plano ISD serves the residents of approximately 100 square miles in southwest Collin County. PASADENA ISD

SAN ANTONIO ISD

For more than 100 years, San Antonio Independent School District has been educating some of San Antonio鈥檚 most notable citizens 鈥� those whose contributions have made the world a better place. Today, SAISD serves more than 54,000 students and is the third largest public school system in the Bexar County area. SAISD provides a comprehensive instructional program and related services for students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, including a college preparatory curriculum, Magnet programs and specialized schools as options for middle and high school students, career and technology education, bilingual education, special education, and a variety extracurricular opportunities. LEWISVILLE ISD

The Lewisville Independent School District prides itself on its long-standing tradition of educational excellence. BROWNSVILLE ISD

KLEIN ISD

Klein Independent School District, encompassing approximately 87.5 square miles, is located in northwestern Harris County, Texas. Its southern portion is adjacent to the corporate limits of the City of Houston. Most of the District is located between Interstate Highway 45 (IH 45) on the east and State Highway 249 (SH 249) on the west. The southern boundary follows Cypress Creek for a considerable distance and a portion of the northern boundary of the District is the same as the northern boundary of Harris County. Klein ISD is fully accredited by the Texas Education Agency and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The Texas Education Agency provides a school and district report card known as the AEIS report. Klein ISD is currently a Recognized District with 11 schools rated as Exemplary, 18 rated as Recognized and 10 rated as Acceptable. ROUND ROCK ISD

Round Rock ISD is located in southern Williamson County and northwest Travis County and includes the City of Round Rock and portions of the City of Austin and the City of Cedar Park. The area covers 110 square miles encompassing high tech manufacturing and urban retail centers, suburban neighborhoods, and farm and ranch land. ALIEF ISD

Alief ISD operates 45 campuses and programs. The district encompasses 24 elementary schools, 6 intermediate schools, 6 middle schools, 5 high schools, and additional programs designed to meet the needs of our diverse population. After experiencing rapid growth over the past ten years, Alief ISD鈥檚 student enrollment has stabilized. AISD currently educates more than 45,000 students. FRISCO ISD

Because many are choosing to plant roots in the Frisco area, Frisco ISD is at the top of the fastest growing school districts in the state and nation growing by 10-30 percent annually from 1997-2010. The district continues to add 2,500-3,000 students each year. As of October 1, 2012, we had 42,650 students enrolled. We are projected to enroll 43,022 students in 2012-2013. Within the 75 square miles of our district, we serve residents of Collin and Denton Counties and residents of Frisco, and some portions of Plano, Little Elm, and McKinney. FISD is 30 miles north of Dallas. The district is about 50 percent built-out. By providing a unique learning environment that maximizes student opportunity and invests in meaningful relationships, the mission of the Frisco Independent School District is to partner with families and community in developing caring citizens equipped to continue learning and pursue their aspirations.
SOCORRO ISD

The Socorro Independent School District is one of the fastest growing school districts in the state of Texas serving more than 44,000 students with innovative instruction in state-of-the art facilities. SISD is an outstanding educational institution having been named a two-time Broad Prize finalist and earning TEA Recognized status three years in a row. Vision: Tomorrow鈥檚 Leaders Learning Today. UNITED ISD

The United Independent School District is located in Laredo, Texas in Webb County. Bordering Mexico in Southwest Texas, UISD is situated on the Rio Grande River. Laredo鈥檚 economy is based on retail industry, agriculture, import/export, mineral production, and tourism. YSLETA ISD

The Ysleta Independent School District is the second largest school district in El Paso, Texas serving more than 44,000 students in a culturally diverse, family-friendly community. The district offers innovative instruction, state-of-the art facilities and a safe and secure educational environment. The Ysleta district has grown from its humble beginnings as a rural education district with one high school and a handful of middle and elementary schools into one of the major school districts in the state of Texas. YISD has 62 campuses, which sprawl through an urban area stretching from northeast El Paso to the east and southeast areas of the city. The district employs 8,000 administrators, teachers and support staff. YISD is committed to providing students and educators resources that will ensure academic success and prepare students to compete in the 21st century global society. The YISD Teacher Laptop Initiative puts laptop computers in the hands of every teacher. The new interactive website is an excellent resource for employees, students, and parents to get connected with YISD. A district-developed web tool called PowerParent allows parents to keep track of their child鈥檚 progress in school with up-to-the-minute status on grades, attendance, community service hours and class schedules. As YISD continues being an educational leader, sustainability has become a priority within the district providing classrooms and campuses with recycling bins. YISD also encourages parents to 鈥済o green鈥� and subscribe to email newsletters to save paper. Del Valle Elementary is the newest school in the district and is pending a Leadership in Energy/Environmental Design certification. This means the school features the latest, innovative technology and engineering to be an energy-efficient, environmentally friendly facility.
KILLEEN ISD

The Killeen Independent School District is a growing, thriving district in Central Texas serving a 400 square mile area including the communities of Killeen, Harker Heights, Nolanville, and the Fort Hood military installation. With an enrollment of 41,969 students, the district is the 26th largest in Texas. Killeen ISD is the second largest employer in the area with Fort Hood being the largest. KISD staff consists of 5,315 full time employees: 45.8% - Teachers, 22.0% - Paraprofessionals, 20.8% - Classified, 7.7% - Professional Support, 2.9% - Campus Admin and 1.1% - Central Admin. The Board of Trustees consists of seven elected members who serve three year terms of office. The teachers currently serving KISD have an average of 9.9 years of teaching experience and an average of 7.5 years within KISD. More than 18.5 % of the teachers have a masters or doctoral degree. Class size averages vary throughout the district with a range of 22.1 students per class in PK 鈥� 4 and 23.1 students per class in 5th 鈥� 12th. The district provides various programs to support struggling students. Students are provided Response to Intervention (RtI) interventions within the school day, English as a Second Language instruction, and appropriate services for special needs students. Tutoring is structured within and outside the school day. Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) provides tutorial assistance within the school day for middle and high school students. After school programs include the district鈥檚 Math Center, Tutor.com, and various tutoring programs offered by individual campuses. Communities in Schools is a special program available for at-risk learners. The Killeen ISD鈥檚 Site-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Committee consists of teachers, other professional staff members, parents of students enrolled in the district, community members, and business representatives. The KISD Board has also established the District Employee Advocacy Committee (DEAC), consisting of teachers and other professional staff members, to enable two-way communication between employees and the Superintendent. This committee brings forward ideas, questions, and concerns from employees. Each campus has an established campus-level SBDM and DEAC committee. Killeen ISD also has a District Conduct Committee (DCC) to develop district level policies and monitor discipline procedures administered throughout the district.
CLEAR CREEK ISD

The Clear Creek Independent School District is home to explorers and adventurers! Nestled along the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston and the boating waters of the Gulf of Mexico, Clear Creek ISD proudly serves the educational growth of more than 39,000 students and continues to be one of the most desirable places to raise a family in the Greater Houston area. Clear Creek ISD is the 29th largest school district in Texas, out of 1,031 districts. Our district spans 103 square miles, 13 municipalities, and two counties (Harris and Galveston). We are governed by a high performing Board of Trustees, seven elected community members representing areas of the district. We pride ourselves on involving our stakeholders in making curriculum, finance, and policy decisions, and all of our decisions are made with the best interest of children in mind. MESQUITE ISD

Mesquite ISD encompasses an area of approximately 60 square miles along either side of I-635 in east Dallas County. It draws from the communities of Mesquite, Garland, and Balch Springs as well as areas of Dallas. We believe that by challenging students with high expectations and a rigorous curriculum, they will excel. We believe in cultivating our students鈥� talent and drive through involvement in extracurricular programs and opportunities. We believe in never giving up on a single student.
CORPUS CHRISTI ISD

RICHARDSON ISD

Richardson ISD covers 38.5 square miles and includes most of the city of Richardson, and portions of the cities of Dallas and Garland (60 percent of RISD is in Dallas, with 35 percent in Richardson and 5 percent in Garland). HUMBLE ISD

Humble Independent School District began over 100 years ago as a one-room school house with twelve students, a teacher and a four-month school term. Today, with 40 schools, more than 37,000 students and over 5,000 employees, Humble ISD is nationally recognized for the outstanding education it offers to students. Humble ISD is listed among the 25 fastest growing school districts in Texas, and is currently the 31st largest district in the state. SPRING ISD

The Spring Independent School District serves over 36,500 pre-kindergarten through twelfth-grade students in a diverse and growing district located 20 miles north of downtown Houston in an urban area of Harris County that spans 57 square miles. Spring ISD Vision Statement: "By 2015, Spring Independent School District will be recognized nationally as a leader among learning organizations known for exemplary student achievement." The Spring ISD instructional approach allows for students to excel academically, socially and in extracurricular activities. Curricula used districtwide reflects the district鈥檚 belief in a strong academic foundation in the core subject areas of math, science, language arts and social studies. Instructional services are provided for identified students with various needs. Academic acceleration and enrichment are available for the gifted and talented. Special education services are provided for students with disabilities. Bilingual instruction and English as a Second Language education are available for students who require assistance while learning the English language. In addition, Spring ISD offers fine arts programs that are designed to enrich the lives of students through art, dance, music, theater and speech. LEANDER ISD

IRVING ISD

The District is one of 1,237 school districts and charter schools in the State of Texas. It provides a program of public education from pre-kindergarten through grade twelve. The Irving Independent School District Board of Trustees ("the Board"), a seven-member group, has governance responsibilities over all activities related to public elementary and secondary education within the jurisdiction of the District. SPRING BRANCH ISD

Since its creation as a suburban school district in the 1940s, SBISD has been nationally renowned for providing quality education. The district's dedication to small neighborhood schools is credited with contributing to the success of our schools and our students. SBISD encompasses an area of approximately 44 square miles. The Memorial/Spring Branch neighborhoods are just a short drive west from downtown Houston on Interstate 10/Katy Freeway. EDINBURG CISD

Vision Statement: All Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District students will master the competencies to be life-long learners, to compete, contribute, and succeed in the global community through positive attitudes and high expectations. Mission Statement: The TEAM of the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees, administrators, teachers, support staff, parents and community, in partnership with public and private agencies, is committed to provide the support, resources and academic rigor to ensure all students achieve educational and social excellence.
KELLER ISD

Keller ISD serves a diverse and fast growing community, and while keeping pace with the ever-changing landscape the district holds true to its history of excellence. The district serves portions of the cities of Colleyville, Fort Worth, Haltom City, Hurst, North Richland Hills, Southlake, Watauga, and Westlake and the entire City of Keller. Its 51 square miles encompass the third-largest land area in Tarrant County, and its tax rate of $1.6080 per $100 appraised value is the one of the lowest school tax rates in the county. KISD employs more than 3,400 staff members including just over 2,100 classroom instructional employees. PHARR-SAN JUAN-ALAMO ISD

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District has rapidly become a state and national leader in creating more academic opportunities for all students. As a tri-city public school district offering a pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade curriculum, PSJA caters to a 32,000 student body and is focused on graduating all students College Ready, College Connected and College Complete. PSJA ISD has been a model for dropout prevention strategies and working to connect all students to College. With a High School Completion Rate of almost 97 percent, PSJA ISD is leading the region, state and nation in the percent of students graduating from High School. PSJA also has a very successful early College program, with four High Schools designated as Early College and approximately 1,700 High School students enrolled in College courses this fall through dual and concurrent enrollment programs. ECTOR COUNTY ISD

LA JOYA ISD

The La Joya Independent School District, located in the western portion of Hidalgo County consist of more than 226 square miles stretching west of Mission to Sullivan City, including the smaller communities of La Joya, Palmview and Pe帽itas. Boundaries extend from the United States border formed by the Rio Grande River to the 13 mile line near McCook. GRAND PRAIRIE ISD

The Grand Prairie Independent School District is the largest employer in Grand Prairie with approximately 3,372 staff members. More than 2,100 of those are instructional staff. GPISD is a 58-square mile district serving approximately 26,000 students within the Dallas County portion of Grand Prairie. The District boasts 39 campuses, including 25 elementary schools, seven middle schools, two ninth-grade centers, three high schools and two alternative education schools. The District has a diverse student population with 63.1 percent Hispanic students, 17.6 percent black students, 15.1 percent white students, 3.7 percent Asian students, and .5 percent American Indian students. LAMAR CISD

At Lamar CISD, our focus is on our students. We鈥檙e a Texas Education Agency Recognized School District, with 75 percent of all schools ranked in the agency鈥檚 upper academic tiers, with 11 schools ranked Exemplary and 13 more ranked Recognized. Lamar CISD has sixth-grade only campuses (middle schools), which focus on the needs of pre-adolescents, providing an easy transition to secondary schools. Smaller enrollments at Lamar CISD鈥檚 secondary schools (high schools are designed for no more than 2,000 students) help students feel secure and provide greater opportunities to assume leadership roles and participate in campus organizations and activities. Career and College Facilitators are at every high school, searching for financial aid for all graduates. All Lamar CISD fourth-grade students take swim lessons at the Lamar CISD Natatorium as part of the PE curriculum. The District provides transportation for the classes, which are held during the regular school day. Project Lead the Way Engineering and Biomedical Science programs offer students hands-on experiences and college-preparatory level classes, labs and creative exercises. The program is nationally-certified on all four high school campuses.
CARROLLTON-FARMERS BRANCH ISD

C-FB ISD provides instructional services to children who live in portions of Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, Farmers Branch, Irving and Dallas. C-FB ISD prides itself on making the schools, principals and teachers accessible to its communities. Vision Statement: All students will meet the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) at the satisfactory or advanced level and graduate college-ready or workforce ready without remediation. Mission Statement: Together with families and community we commit all district resources to guide the learning of each student to graduate as: A responsible individual, A passionate life-long learner, A complex thinker, An effective communicator who understands and respects our global interdependence.
DENTON ISD

The Denton Independent School District has been committed to providing a quality education since it was founded in 1882. The district 鈥� located about 25 miles north of Dallas and Fort Worth - encompasses 180 square miles and contains all or parts of 16 cities, communities or major developments. Denton ISD includes three comprehensive high schools, six middle schools, 21 elementary schools, two early childhood centers, an alternative high school, an advanced technology complex and other specialized schools and centers. Bettye Myers Middle School is scheduled to open for the 2013-14 school year as the district鈥檚 seventh middle school. MCALLEN ISD

Vision: The McAllen Independent School District (MISD) is a multicultural community in which students are enthusiastically and actively engaged in the learning process. LAREDO ISD

The Laredo Independent School District was established in 1882. LISD is a district sprawling more than 13 square miles. The Laredo Independent School District is made up of 33 educational institutions: 20 elementary schools, four middle schools, four high schools including the new Early College High School located on the campus of Texas A&M International University, the Lara Academy our alternative education campus, an Non-Traditional high school, and three magnet schools. The three magnet schools are the Vidal M. Trevi帽o School of Communications and Fine Arts, located in historical downtown Laredo, the Dr. Dennis D. Cantu Health Science School, located at Martin High School, and the Sabas Perez School for Engineering and Technology Education, located at Cigarroa High School. The district has a yearly average of 25,000 enrolled students and over 4,500 employees striving for academic excellence. At the Laredo ISD, learning is the key to a bright and successful future.
